Hours of Work

40 hours per week.

Premiums

Lead Hand: 6% of the journeyperson trade rate to be added to the base wage rate.

Foreman: 14% of the journeyperson trade rate to be added to the base wage rate.

Dual ticket: $2.00 to be added to the base wage rate when the employee holds two Alberta or Red Seal Journey Person Tickets.

Steward: between $1.00 - $3.00 per hour depending on level of training.

Night: $3.00 per hour.

Paid Holidays

11 days.

Paid Vacation

All employees will be entitled to receive an amount equal to 6% of their base wage rate for all hours worked as vacation pay. The employer will consider vacations at the times requested considering business requirements.

Health and Welfare

Benefits Plan: employees are eligible to receive coverage on the first of the month following 350 hours worked. Coverage under this plan ceases for the plan participant at age 75.

Life Insurance: $60,000 for each life and accidental death and disability insurance per employee under 65 years old. $30,000 for each life and accidental death and disability insurance per employee from age 65 up to and including age 74.

Dental: Employer covers 100% of basic services up to $2,000 per person annually. Employer covers 50% of comprehensive dental up to $2,000 annually. Employer covers 50% of orthodontic up to $3,000 lifetime maximum per child under 19.

Prescription Drug Plan: Employer covers 80% up to $3,000 per person annually and then 100% thereafter.

Optical Insurance: $300 per year for each employee and family member under 21. $300 every two years for each employee and family member over 21.

Extended Health Coverage/Semi-Private Hospital Coverage: no deductible for employee and family.

Allowances

Vision Care: The employer will reimburse any employee of the cost up to a maximum of $300.00 for prescription safety wear. The employee will be eligible for further reimbursement every 4,000 hours from the last time they were reimbursed, or earlier at the employer’s discretion.

Safety Footwear: Each employee receives up to $200 for a boot allowance following the completion of at least 350 hours worked. The employee will be eligible for further reimbursement every 4,000 hours from the last time they were reimbursed, or earlier at the employer’s discretion.
