Severance Pay
Effective the date on which the collective agreement is signed, severance benefits for retirement or resignation shall cease to accumulate. Employees will have 3 months to choose one of the following three payment options: (1) cash out their severance immediately at their rate of pay in effect on the date the collective agreement was signed; (2) cash out their severance on termination of employment at the rate of pay in effect at that time; or (3) cash out a portion of their severance at the rate of pay in effect on the date the collective agreement was signed and the rest on termination of employment at the rate of pay in effect at that time [new additions]. Severance benefits shall continue to accumulate in the case of death, layoff or termination for cause for reasons of incapacity or incompetence.
