For the January 1, 2016 and 2017 adjustments, wages shall be increased according to the increase in the annualized Consumer Price Index, Montreal for the previous year, with a guaranteed minimum of 2.0% up to a maximum of 2.5%.

Hours of Work

Paid Holidays

13 days (unchanged).

Paid Vacation

14 days earned after 1 year of service, 21 days after 2 years of service, 28 after 6, 35 after 15, and 42 after 25. Employees shall also receive one additional week of vacation on the 5th year of service, for the 5th year only. The same one-week addition applies once employees reach 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, and 40 years of service (unchanged).

Shift Premium

Effective January 1, 2012, public education unit staff, fire investigators and instructors shall receive an annual premium equivalent to 1% of their annual salary on December 31 of the previous year ($300 per year for employees who worked a minimum of 175 hours performing such tasks throughout the year).

First Responder Annual Premium

Effective January 1, 2012, $1,900 per year for trained, certified firefighters designated as first responders. Effective January 1, 2013, the premium increases by the same percentage as wage increases, on the same dates.

First Responder Hourly Premium

The hourly premium of $1.50 for firefighters in first responder units is eliminated.

Bereavement: 2 (1) paid day(s) without loss of wages and 4 days (unchanged) without pay upon the death of the employee’s father, mother, spouse, child, stepchild, brother or sister; 4 (3) days without pay for the death of the employee’s father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law or daughter-in-law.

Paternity: 5 consecutive weeks (new addition).

Labour -Management Committee

First responders: a joint committee shall be created to examine and discuss any issues related to first responders and special teams (new addition).
