Pension Plan
Employee Contribution: Effective January 1, 2014, 6% (4.5%) of earnings up to Year’s Maximum Pensionable Earnings (YMPE); and 6% of earnings on excess of YMPE (unchanged).
Early Retirement: Effective January 1, 2014, employees will be eligible to an early retirement after completion of 30 years of service or upon attaining age 60 (after 25 years of service or when age plus service equals 80).
Plus, employees will be eligible to an unreduced pension if they retire on or after pensionable age of 65, or on or after age 60 if employee completes 30 years of service. Employees not meeting the criteria will have their pension reduced from age 65 (unreduced pension at age 60 with reduction applied for those who retire before age 60).
Defined Contribution Pension Plan for new employees: Employees hired on or after August 1, 2012 will be enrolled in a new defined contribution pension plan. The employee contribution will be of 3% to 6% of earnings, with 100% matching employer contributions. Employer will also contribute for an additional 37.5% of the employee contribution percentage, if the employee has completed between 2 and 5 years of service; 75% if the employee has completed more than 5 years (new additions). Defined Benefit Pension Plan is maintained for current pension plan members.
Mandatory Retirement: Mandatory retirement at age 60 is eliminated for employees who retire after December 1, 2012 (new addition).
Allowances
Canada/US Meal: Effective April 2, 2011, $70.26 ($63.87) per day; effective April 2, 2012, $73.07.
Transportation for round trips to the airport at home base for flight duty, periodic training, annual briefing, medical and ground school: Effective April 2, 2011, $5.30 ($4.30) per round trip.
Check In and Gratuity: Effective April 2, 2011, $5.05 ($4.10) per additional night of hotel accommodation.
Flights involving time from home base over 120 hours: Effective April 2, 2011, $12.50 ($10) per 24-hour period.
Passport: $34.25 per year (new addition).
Shoes: $100 per year ($150 every 2 years).
Uniforms: Uniform will be 100% paid by the employer (50% paid by the employer and 50% paid by the employee).
Uniform maintenance: Effective April 1, 2011, $55 ($45) per month.
Low Cost Carrier
The employer is allowed to create a new low cost carrier with separate operating certificate and competitive pay rates and work rules. A total of 50 aircrafts is permitted (new additions).
