Health and Welfare
Employer Contribution to Joint UFCW Health and Welfare Trust: Effective April 27, 2009, increased to $0.69 per hour worked; January 1, 2010, $0.70; January 1, 2011, $0.75; January 1, 2012, $0.80; and, January 1, 2013, $0.85.
Prescription Drug Card [new]: To be introduced within 6 months of ratification. The card will be for use in pharmacies operated by the employer; for employees who work in stores with no pharmacy, the employer will make arrangements for this service at a local pharmacy.
Medical Reports: Employer agrees to pay the fee for medical reports required by the employer for sick leave or weekly indemnity, to a maximum of $50 [$20].
Pension Plan
Employer Contribution to Joint UFCW Pension Trust [new addition]: Effective April 27, 2009, the initial contribution rate will be fixed at 2.5% of earnings; the contribution level will increase to the following amounts in January of each of the following years: 2010, 3.0%; 2011. 3.5%; 2012, 4.0%; 2013, 5.0%; 2014, 5.5%; 2015, 6.0%; 2016, 6.5%; 2017, 7.0%; 2018, 7.5%; and 2019, 8.0%.
Effective January 2014, employee contributions will commence as follows:
- Age 18 to 29: 1.0% of earnings;
- Age 30 to 39: 2.0% of earnings;
- Age 40 and over: 4.0% of earnings.
Each employee will have the option of transferring their existing pension funds to the Joint UFCW Pension Plan and use these funds to obtain past pensionable service and/or they may use other funds to purchase past pensionable service subject to actuarial calculation.
Leave of Absence
Military [new addition]: An employee who is a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, including the Primary Reserve, and who is part of an operational deployment will be granted a leave of absence without loss of seniority.
