$0.01 for each 0.3 point increase in the consumer price index (CPI) (Canada 1971 = 100). The CPI is calculated quarterly, and 1/3 of the allowance generated is incorporated into wages on March 1, 2013 to 2017, with a guaranteed annual minimum of $0.15. The COLA formula under the previous collective agreement generated $1.15, an amount that was incorporated into the regular hourly rates on March 1, 2012.

Premiums

Shift: for shifts starting after 12 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., $0.35 [$0.30] per hour as of March 1, 2012 and $0.40 per hour as of March 1, 2016. For shifts starting after 8:00 p.m. and until 6:00 a.m., $0.55 [$0.45] per hour as of March 1, 2012 and $0.70 per hour as of March 1, 2016.

Leave

Bereavement: up to 7 days, 5 of which are paid, for the death of the employee’s spouse, mother, father, a brother, a sister or a child [the employee is paid for 3 consecutive shifts at his/her regular rate, provided that he/she actually loses those three days due to the death in question].

Allowances
