Classification Adjustments
Several classifications receive additional adjustments over the term of the agreement.
Hours of Work
40 hours per week (unchanged).
Overtime
Meal: $8.50 ($6.50).
Shift Premium
Night: 40¢ (30¢) per hour where the majority of scheduled hours fall between 11:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m.
Paid Holidays
11 days (unchanged). Eligible part-time employees will be compensated for general holidays based on their average hours worked during the four-week period preceding the holiday (provision simplified).
Paid Vacation
2 weeks earned after 1 year, 3 after 5, 4 after 10, and 5 after 19 (unchanged). Employees with 5 years of employment in the past 10 years, upon completion of one year of full-time seniority from their most recent full-time employment date, shall be entitled to 3 weeks’ vacation with pay (unchanged).
Vacation Scheduling: Full-time employees will be granted a minimum of 3 consecutive weeks’ vacation from April 1st through July 31st, and 2 consecutive weeks’ from August 1st through September 30th (minimum of 2 consecutive weeks’ from April 1st through September 30th).
Former Warman Road / Marion Street Employees: Letter of Understanding stipulates that former Warman Road and Marion Street employees will be credited with combined total service for vacation entitlement purposes as per closures agreement for the two Maple Leaf facilities (new addition).
Health and Welfare
Long-Term Disability: Benefit equal to 66 2/3% of salary, to a maximum of $1,500 ($1,250) per month.
Vision Plan: $250 ($200) every two years, plus cost of eye examination (new addition).
Health coverage is extended to include those on approved leaves of absence (new addition).
Manitoba Food and Commercial Workers Dental Plan: Employer contribution increases by 1¢ per hour worked, and by an additional 1¢ per year if required to maintain current benefit levels.
Pension Plan
Canadian Commercial Workers Industry Pension Plan (CCWIPP) Lost Benefits: Employer agrees to provide a benefit in the amount of $1,000 per year of service up to January 1, 2008 to current and former employees who lost benefits as a result of switching from the CCWIPP. These payments will be administered by the UFCW / Maple Leaf Foods Benefits Trust and, if requested, paid directly into an employees’ RRSP.
Job Security
Training Period on Job Postings: For semi-skilled positions, the training period will be up to 5 days; and, for skilled positions, up to 10 days (training period clarified).
Manitoba Food and Commercial Workers Local 832, Education and Training Trust Fund
Employer contributes 12¢ (10¢) per hour worked.
Harassment Policy
Parties agree to cooperate with each other in preventing and eliminating instances of potential and/or actual harassment (new addition to agreement).
Allowances
Tool: $200 ($150) every six months.
Safety Boots: $135 ($100) per year.
Bereavement Leave
Grandchild added to immediate family definition (new addition). Leave will be extended by up to 2 additional working days without pay when the funeral is held more than 500 kilometres from the employee’s residence (new addition).
Leaves of Absence
Family Responsibility (new addition): Maximum of 5 days’ unpaid leave per calendar year in the event an illness or injury to an immediate family member requires the employee’s full-time attention.
Personal: Employees with a minimum of one year’s seniority are entitled to unpaid leave of from one to 4 weeks’ duration (employer agreed to consider requests for personal leave). Employer will also consider granting an unpaid personal leave of up to 4 days where required (new addition).
